Here are some of the top models within the Zoeller range. Though they have their specialties, the company actually has a massive amount of products available to the consumer in a variety of different designs. For the purposes of these reviews we are looking at home sump pumps rather than those designed for industrial use, though more information on these products can be found on their website.
Submersible Sump Pumps
Zoeller 50 Series

Zoeller M53

Zoeller M57
The 50 Series contains some of the most popular sump pumps within the Zoeller brand or within any Sump Pump brand! These are submersible sump pumps with a good level of power for use within the home. Not all of the models within this range are still produced, as some have been discontinued. The 50 series standard features include:
These standard features can be seen across the whole range. So what are the differences? Within the 50 Series the main differences are the materials used. For instance, the M53 uses a Cast iron switch case whereas some of the other models use materials such as bronze. Naturally, this has an impact on the price. The M55 and M59 use bronze for the switch case and sleeve bearings, whereas the M53 and M57 use cast iron. As such, the M53 and M57 are our preferred models.
Zoeller M63

This pump is suitable for sump systems but also sewage and groundwater purposes. The ⅓ horse power motor is similar to the M57, and as such the power of the pump is around 2,580 GPH. Just like the M53, it can pump at up to 19.25 feet. This is slightly smaller and can fit into smaller sump pits as a result. It is a more premium model compared to the 50 series, with an improved float switch and lit electrical plug, Zoeller have shown their confidence by offering a five year warranty on the pump.
The Zoeller 70 Series

Zoeller M72

Zoeller M73
Sometimes referred to as the ‘builder series’. These have a slightly different design to the 50 series and are slightly bigger, fitting 12 inch sump pits rather than 11 inch.
The cast iron housing makes these excellent quality products, hence being recommended for building. There are varying levels of power within, starting at just over 2,500 GPH, which is plenty for most basements. Products such as the Zoeller M76 offer a little more power with the capacity to pump at 3000 GPH with a slightly more powerful motor at ½ HP compared to ⅓ HP in much of the rest of the range.
The M72 is the only model within this range which offers oil-free cooling whereas the rest of the 70 series are oil filled.
Recommended For Residential Using:
Best Value Model: Zoeller M53
This is an efficient pump, taking up minimal space and still providing a lot of power. The Mighty Mate made a name for itself by being relatively small but also exceptional in its quality and reliability, and is very cost effective, which has led to it getting a huge amount of five star reviews from customers.
This pump has a ⅓ HP motor, which is more than enough for most home use and means 2580 GPH (gallons per hour) of flow when pumping at 0ft. This then lowers to just over 2000 GPH with 10 ft of lift.
Best Quality and Performance Model: Zoeller M63
The M63 has a lot of features which are very attractive if you’re looking for a sump pump for your home. The maximum this can pump at is 2580 GPH. The Horse Power of this is only 0.3 so it doesn’t have the power of many of the sibling products within the range, but it still has more than enough power for most homes. It also has an incredible five year warranty.
Pedestal Sump Pumps

Pedestal pumps are great if you need something to sit next to your pit rather than inside it.
The M80 series covers this aspect of the range, with pedestal pumps including the basic thermoplastic design the M81, with just 0.3 HP, and more powerful models, both made of cast iron, the M82 and M84 with a ⅓ HP and ½ HP motor respectively.
Battery Powered Sump Pumps

Aquanot® Active 508

Basement Sentry® 507
Most sump pump manufacturers offer some form of battery powered pump, these are used as backups for when the power is out or there is any form of malfunction with the primary pump.
Battery powered sump pumps in the Zoeller range include the Aquanot 508, Aquanot Active 508 which comes with a Z Control device and the Aquanot 585, all of which are made with high quality Cast Iron material.
There is also the much lower powered Basement Sentry 507 which we would only recommend if your pump needs are very low in terms of power.
Warranty
Some of the Zoeller models such as the M57 have historically come with just one year warranties. This is far from impressive, but recently the sump pumps in their range have become stronger and more hard-wearing, and products like the M63 have five year warranties which is truly impressive.
Many of the pedestal sump pumps such as the M82 only have a one year warranty, which is not recommended.
Conclusion
Zoeller make pumps of all different kinds, and their submersible sump pumps are exceptionally well made with the best materials and very little chance of any corrosion or rust. These sump pumps can last for a long time if treated right, and as such they are undoubtedly one of the strongest brands we’ve come across in the world of sump pumps. Zoeller’s warranties which are up to five years make them stand out from the crowd in terms of quality.
